A woman climbs the geometric tiers of a step well in India. These structures are cut deep into the ground in order to store water during the dry, arid summers. As the water level recedes the steps allow people to descend further in order to collect it. As with much of the architecture of the time, these structures are both functional and beautiful.
Captured using a high resolution digital camera with incredible sharpness and tonal depth.
